HEPRY = HYPER, CARPH = PARCH, DAWNET = WANTED, PRAMET = TAMPER — Giving us: HYRPRWATTAE
Clue/Question: After he pitched a perfect game, he . . .
Answer: THREW A PARTY
(Very interesting. To my knowledge, the Detroit Tigers have never experienced a perfect game. Not on the winning side at least. But . . . it could happen! Heck, if the Mets could finally win a No Hitter, like they did this year, then I guess anything is possible! Being a baseball fan, I loved this Jumble. I thought the clue words were all well jumbled. There is a new word for the ralis95 clue word database, but I think it could be deemed debatable. The word “hyper” is accepted as a stand alone word, by some sources. However, Merriam Webster’s still has it as a prefix only. Not as a stand alone word. This could get the purists up in arms! We’re going to have to have another debate, over what constitutes a valid Jumble clue word. Me? I could care less. I just like causing trouble, from time to time. Back to the critique. I thought the answer letter layout was a thing of beauty! Nothing given away here, at all. If it wasn’t for the pitcher’s comment about celebrating this would have been a very tough Jumble to solve. As it is, I bet that a number of you had some difficulty in solving it. Pitch and throw are synonymous, so that was the pun aspect. If I wasn’t already so far behind in my day I might have made this an Unclerave’s Wiseguy of the Day contest. I blame Lesley. She HAD to go and say that she hated doing the crossword puzzle! I usually don’t bother with it these days, but since she brought it up . . . and with such passion, I just HAD to do today’s! It’s the one from the Los Angeles Times, so if anyone is having trouble with it . . .

Armando Galarraga of the Tigers was ROBBED of a perfect game two years ago by that ump that admitted it was a horrible call. I want to see Prince Fielder and Verlander in the post season this year. They usually end their season in Chicago. Could be a big time final weekend for the Tigers. Bless You Boys! and that’s all I have to say about that.
Nice analysis of today’s Jumble!
FYI: You mean “could NOT care less” as in:
“Me? I could care less. I just like causing trouble, from time to time . . . .”
Thanks!
Onward & Upward,
—Ken
I don’t know whether you are talking about a no hitter or a perfect game. If the former, Detroit’s Justin Verlander threw two of them, one in 2007 and another in 2011 but no perfect game.
UNC- I happen to be a YANKEES fan but the cartoon picture of the pitcher looks like R.A DICKEY….. Maybe a Foreshadowing you never know. Wimpy
@ Jeff,
Galarraga definitely was ROBBED! Life ain’t fair sometimes, bro. Tigers were one of my original teams, as a kid! I still root for them, situationally.
@ Ken,
I’ll let you know when it’s the Wiseguy of the Day contest, buddy! Technically, you’re correct. The NOT should be in there. I took the erroneously popular way to express myself. But, I do actually care about the issue . . . just not as much as some do. So, I could argue that *I could care less*, but I won’t. (Another thing that I couldn’t care less about.)
@ OG,
You knew, buddy. You’re just showing off! But, that’s allowed here. Verlander is tough. Wimpy would probably rather his boys don’t have to play him.
@ Wimpy,
I thought the same thing, bro! R.A. is The Man! I really hope he can squeeze out 20 wins. As usual with the Mets, it will all come down to run support.
