Clue/Question: He wanted to start going to the gym, but he had . . .
Answer: TOO MUCH ON HIS PLATE
(Wow! A 17 letter answer! That is pretty big. I wonder what the record is? When I first saw the answer letter layout, and read the dialog and the clue/question, I thought that I was going to have a very difficult time getting the answer. But, then I looked very closely at Jeff’s cartoon. I noticed the name of the place – The Hungry Heifer – on the window. I saw that it was a buffet-style eating establishment. But, what really stood out, for me, was what I saw on the table, in front of our dining couple. The woman has a modest sized drink and a plate that has plenty of open spaces. However, Mr. Excuses has a jumbo drink and a plate that is just overflowing with food. And, even though they are both seated, you can see that the guy is fairly overweight. Not that yer uncle can be critical, or anything. I’m just sayin’! Anywho, I thought all of the clue words were jumbled well. I really like the word “lavish” I’d love a lavish lifestyle. And “depict” is also a great word. I was very surprised to see that “chance” is not currently on the ralis95 clue word database. Heads up to David L. Hoyt . . . neither is CHANGE. The clue answer letter layout gave absolutely nothing away. This was a very satisfying Sunday Jumble. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
PS. What television character – and name the show, of course – was famous for referring to The Hungry Heifer? (There may have been a a scene from the show set there, as well.) — YUR
