Visual Description:  An Ed Wood-esque movie set.

VEGIN  =  GIVEN,  ZOWOY  =  WOOZY,  TEDYUP  =  DEPUTY,  LABTEL  =  BALLET   —   Giving us:  GEWODUBLT

Clue/Question:  The movie set in Death Valley had a . . .

Answer:  _ _ _   _ _ _ _ _ _    *Yes, the answer is LOW BUDGET.  Thanks to all of you who played along.  I could have dragged this one out a few more hours, but that really would’ve been milking it!  Lot’s of Honorable Mentions.  Too many to mention, actually.  But, I really did like Jeanne R.’s lengthy and informative comment.  But, the Big Winner is:  Dan Hansen!  He got it right and zinged me good!*

(I figured THIS is when you least expected it!  That’s right, kids.  It’s time for the Unclerave’s Wiseguy of the Day Contest!  I think today’s Jumble answer was a strange combination of difficult and easy.  I think the Death Valley aspect might throw some of you, as I was a little slow on the uptake myself.  I really liked the answer letter layout too, so that was also a factor in my deciding to torment you with another contest.  No new clue words.  I was a little thrown by both “given” – and we’ve seen this exact jumble of it before – and “woozy”, because it just doesn’t feel like a real word to me.  It’s always seemed more like slang, to me.  As always, the first correct answer will NOT necessarily be the winner.  No, no, no!  You need to submit the correct answer AND some kind of relevant wiseguy remark, directed at something about the cartoon, the answer, or yours truly.  Multiple submissions ARE allowed.  Be creative.  And remember, although there is no monetary value to this title, being an Unclerave Wiseguy of the Day Contest winner looks great on any resume!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

All the pessimists in world history are nothing against reality.”   —   Elias Canetti

(I couldn’t find this quotation as written.  It’s missing a fairly superfluous word in “together”.  Here is the quote as I’m seeing it:  “All the pessimists in world history together are nothing against reality.”  I guess somebody made an executive decision.  It’s kind of a strange quote, anyway.  What does outlook, one way or the other, have to do with reality?  Unless that’s kind of the point.  Might as well be an optimist.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

PS.  I have no idea why Zemanta brought up this magazine cover from the ’50s, as part of it’s Media Gallery offerings, but I’m never averse to a little cheesecake!  So . . . enjoy!   —   YUR
