Clue/Question:  When it came to her husband’s plan to successfully lose weight, she thought he had this.

Answer: A FAT CHANCE

(One of those sarcastic little phrases we say when we mean the complete opposite!  I really liked today’s Jumble, but mainly because of the superbly jumbled clue words.  None of them are new, but they all required more than a quick glance.  Both “after” and “notch” are leading the way in look-up queries.  The answer letter layout was good, but I think it could have been better.  The Electric Vibrating Belt Weight Loss Machine!  Those things were a riot!  I think I first saw one in an old Three Stooges short, when I was a kid.  Jiggling is all well and good, but YOU’VE got to be the one to MAKE it jiggle.  Be well and do good, friends.  Get moving!)   —   YUR

Life is like an onion.  You peel it off one layer at a time, and sometimes you weep.”   —   Carl Sandburg

(Very poetic, and it has a lot of truth to it.  Life can definitely make you weep, and so can onions, but it’s the cutting and/or chopping of onions that causes the tears.  Peeling an onion shouldn’t make you cry.  I’m certainly no wizard in the kitchen, but I’m betting old Carl wasn’t either.  Maybe Rachael Ray, Giada De Laurentis, Anthony Bourdain or any other chef-type, can back me up/clarify this for us?  Be well, do good . . . and don’t hold back those tears, guys!  Except for John Boehner.  He cries at the strangest things, and just a little too often.  Politics aside . . . get help, John.)   —   YUR
