Clue/Question: When Ben Franklin went on and on about his theories about electricity, they said . . .
Answer: GO FLY A KITE
(Early stats are indicating that a good number of you are either trying to look up the answer, or are just trying to confirm what you came up with. I didn’t pick up on the answer immediately. At first, I was seeing the word KEY, and wanted to work an answer around that. This was only for about 30 – 40 seconds though. Then, I re-read the cartoon and took note of the other men’s expressions, and their exasperation kind of hit me. People are often reluctant to listen to men of vision and truth. Most people are generally comfortable in their perception of things, and don’t appreciate those who ask them to leave their comfort zone. So much of it has to do with the various types of indoctrination we are all subjected to in our lives. It can be both so persuasive and pervasive, that even when presented with cogent alternatives we cling to what we’ve been taught, or told to believe. In some cases the old truths – or lies – are just much more palatable than the reality. Human nature tries to avoid anything it considers ugly, and unfortunately the truth is not always pretty. And besides, it’s much easier to go along with what the majority “believes”. Most of us have a desire to fit in, because we’re such social creatures. To face – let alone embrace – a harsher truth means almost certain ostracism. Agitator, dissenter, heretic, misbeliever, rebel, radical . . . not many want to wear these labels. Hats off to the free thinkers of the world. Without them there would be no meaningful change in the world.
No new clue words, today. Great answer letter layout, and a nice cartoon. Now, go back to your comfortable realities, and just be thankful I didn’t make this an Unclerave’s Wiseguy of the Day contest. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
