Clue/Question:  The lead actress was this to the understudy.

Answer:  A ROLE MODEL

(Even though I always try to avert my eyes from the cartoon, prior to solving the clue words, I did catch a fleeting glimpse of it.  And, my first impression was late ’50s – early ’60s.  When I read the cartoon I recognized the dialog immediately.  Within the last six months, for the very first time, I actually watched the movie, from beginning to end, on Turner Classic Movies.  What a marvelously powerful dram that is!  Elizabeth Taylor as Maggie, Paul Newman as Brick and Burl Ives as Big Daddy, all at the top of their game.  And, Tennessee Williams is undoubtedly America’s greatest playwright.  If you never had the chance to see it, like me before, then I would highly recommend it.  Especially, if you’re in the mood for plenty of nastiness!

No new clue words, today.  The jumbling was good, but I didn’t struggle with any of the words.  The answer letter layout was great.  Nothing given away, today.  Jeff’s cartoon gave a great feeling for the stage production.  Brick wallowing in self-pity and self-loathing, on the chaise lounge, with his literal crutch at the head.  And, poor Maggie trying to fight/hold together the dysfunctional family she married into.  Nice job, Jeff.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Love “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.” My maiden name is Pollitt and we jokingly called my dad, Big Daddy!

The young Liz Taylor truly was a hottie! I was also very partial to that Catherine Deneuve. If you ever get the chance, rent a 1980s movie called The Hunger.
