Visual Description: An outdoor summer band concert.
ACOSH = CHAOS, MIOCC = COMIC, STORIU = SUITOR, NATDIB = BANDIT — Giving us: COOCUTRND
Clue/Question: The bandleader feared becoming one as the storm approached.
Answer: A CONDUCTOR
(As long as his baton isn’t metal – unlikely anyway – he’s probably fairly safe. Lightning seeks out the tallest objects, so the pavilion would probably get hit any way. An open pavilion, however, is not a safe place to seek shelter during an electrical storm. So, if that’s the only structure nearby, probably everyone should find adequate shelter. Especially the horn players! Everybody back on the bus! You just never want to fool around with lightning!
The jumbling of the clue words was great, today. I even had to think a little to come up with “chaos”. For some reason, I saw “comic” and “bandit” right away. However, “suitor” was a different story. I didn’t back into it, though. I wrote out ten different attempts, with nothing even close. Then, somehow I saw the word SUIT, and then it clicked. Oh, yeah! And, “suitor” is new to the ralis95 clue word database! The answer letter layout was very good. Nothing was given away, in my opinion. The answer, though, wasn’t too tough, as bandleader and conductor are fairly synonymous. Have a good weekend, people. Be well and do good.) — YUR

YUR:
Good for you on SUITOR. I had to back into it after getting the puzzle solution – which, I agree, was rather easy. As for your FB postings – because you do the Cryptoquote last, it shows up first on the page and your solution to Jumble is hidden below it. Since more people go for the Jumble solution, post it last and it will appear first.
Where is an explanation of the “ralis96 clue word database” and where can it be found?
It’s something that one of our longest followers, ralis95, put together and maintains. He’s been doing this since before I’ve been posting the spoilers! He sends me and David L. Hoyt a read-only version, which I use essentially for commenting purposes. It doesn’t help in solving the Jumbles. It’s just fun to note when a “new” word is being used.
