Forgiveness is a funny thing.  It warms the heart and cools the sting.”   —   William Arthur Ward

(Far too many people do not realize how good they could feel if they would just learn true forgiveness.  Work on it, friends.  Yer uncle is working on it.)   —   YUR

Australia 2009

Australia 2009 (Photo credit: stoofstraat)

Visual Description:  David L. Hoyt, and the Missus, visit Australia.

AVEEW  –  WEAVE,  KNRUD  =  DRUNK,  NOONIT  =  NOTION,  DIALNS  =  ISLAND   —   Giving us:  WEDRUNOND

Clue/Question:  When they were up above Sydney, they were . . .

Answer:  DOWN UNDER

(At least it looks like David!  Unless Knurek was just too lazy to draw hair that day!  No new words today, but the clue words were all well jumbled.  Nothing was all that tough, though.  Great answer letter layout, too, but again, nothing tough about the answer, really.  Would love to visit Australia, someday.  The wife has a cousin who lives there, so if we ever get out that way we’ll have a free place to stay!  This young lady looks a little like Uma Thurman!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

PS.  Happy Birthday to MY bouncing baby boy, Derek!  How can 25 years go by so damn quickly???  Whenever I look at him I still see the funniest kid in the world!   —   Love, Pops

When grandparents enter the door, discipline flies out the window.”   —   Ogden Nash

(Looks like somebody who works on the Cryptoquote – there’s no byline, like with the Jumble – became a grandparent, recently.  This is like the the third grandparent related puzzle in the last couple weeks!  Congrats to the anonymous Cryptoquote creator!  But, wait!  I just discovered that what my newspaper publishes as the “Cryptoquote” is published in other papers as the “Quote Cryptogram”, by Rebecca Kornbluh.  I had no idea this was the case!  Maybe this revelation could expand my spoiler audience some.  And, maybe this is another possible option for those who’ve been looking to find the cryptoquote on-line!  Hello, Rebecca!  Are you out there?  This is Yer Uncle Rave  talkin’ atcha!  LOL!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

PS.  See the Jumble spoiler, for the reason why this is late.  I don’t feel like repeating myself.  Also, here is kind of a bonus cryptoquote/quote cryptogram for you to work on.   —   YUR

Visual Description:  Early casting of the original Star Trek.

SUGES  =  GUESS,  RNWOC  =  CROWN,  ALFNEL  =  FALLEN,  DUILIQ  =  LIQUID   —   Giving us:  GCOALLI

Clue/Question: Their choice of Leonard Nimoy to play Spock was this.

Answer:  LOGICAL

(OMG!  Leonard Nimoy really has pointy ears and a Moe Howard haircut???  I’m shocked!  LOL!  Cute.  Gene Roddenberry is spinning in his grave over this one.  And, he could have been, at one point in time, actually.  Gene was one of a few people who have had the their ashes – a portion of them, actually –  “buried” in space.  But, not into deep space.  They were launched into an elliptical orbit around the earth in April of 1997, and were up there until May of 2002.  Not sure what happened upon re-entry.  The rocket they were in likely burned up, but I don’t know.  That would be like being twice cremated!  Kinda like being a twice-baked potato, I guess.  Mmm!  Potatoes!  Not many can claim that.  I suppose if you had a container of your ashes tossed into an active volcano that would be similar . . . but you’d miss out on the ride.  You know, you’d be surprised how many people cannot do the “Live long, and prosper” salute!  It’s a certain kind of hand flexibility thing.  I guess it’s just one of those weird genetic things, like the people who can flex their fingertips backwards.  That always freaked me out!  Maybe, you have to be a bit of a nerd in order to do the Spock “Live long, and prosper” salute. Of course I can do it!  And, I’m just a word-nerd.  Oh, well.

No new clue words, today.  They were all jumbled well, but I didn’t struggle with any of them.  Same with the answer letters.  Nice layout, but the answer was . . . well, you know!  Hey, Jeff!  I didn’t realize that Bob Eubanks was being considered for the role of Spock!  LOL!

Sorry this is a day late, gang.  I was hoping to post it last night, a little after 11:30, but the Wizards of WordPress wuz kinspiring agin me!  I’d click on the New Post menu selection, but the little doohickey in the corner just kept a spinnin’ and spinnin’!  I even shut it all down and tried again, but to no avail.  It was late.  I’d had a six hour drive, and I was too tired to try to wait it out, so I went to bed.  You can rest assured though that Yer Uncle Rave solved this, and the cryptoquote, on the day that it was published.  I did not get the answer from today’s paper.  That would be sad, but I would admit it.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

PS.  Of course, Jeff and David had a good reason for the subject matter being published on 3/26.  See the first and the last Related Articles!   —   YUR
