Waging WAR on Ignorance, Intolerance & Injustice!
Visual Description: Auto entrepreneurs, not firing on all cylinders.
WROBN = BROWN, TURYL = TRULY, PHENAP = HAPPEN, PRAILS = SPIRAL — Giving us: RWTYAPSA
Clue/Question: The owners of the auto supply store weren’t getting along and needed to do this.
Answer: PART WAYS
(Great jumbling of the clue words. It looks like “brown” and “spiral” are new additions to the clue word database. The answer letter layout was very good. Cute drawing and a decent pun. Be well, do good . . . and try to work things out, friends.) — YUR
“The penalty of success is to be bored by the people who used to snub you.” — Lady Astor
(Sounds more like a triumph than a penalty, to me. Especially, if you get to express your boredom to their faces. But, to each his own. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
Visual Description: The ultimate underdog, not underselling himself.
FRAIMF = AFFIRM, TEILBG = GIBLET, RLUUNY = UNRULY, WASRLP = SPRAWL, TSTOPY = SPOTTY, ADRREH = HARDER — Giving us: FGIUUPPTTHA
Clue/Question: Producers didn’t want Sylvester Stallone to star in “Rocky“, so he . . .
Answer: PUT UP A FIGHT
(I kinda look forward to the movie-themed jumbles! They’re fun. The Hollywood producers have the wide lapelled, open-collared shirts of the ’70s. This Rocky looks a little paunchy and haggard, though. More like the Rocky of the last few flicks, than the original. Of course, he wasn’t as cut in the first film as he was in II, III and IV, but this drawing makes him look old. A couple of new clue words today, in “spotty” and “harder”. The jumbling was good, but I only had to think on “affirm”. I was drinking beers and watching the beginning of the Giant’s v. 49er’s game while doing this. By the way, congrats to the GIANTS . . . and the pats . . . I guess. I was pulling for the Ravens. Not because I’m a fan of theirs, but I was hoping to see the Giants avenge their Super Bowl XXXV drubbing, from back in early 2001. XLVI ought to be another great match-up, though. Both teams are playing better than anybody expected. I gotta give the edge to the Giants. They beat the Pats in week 9, in Foxboro. And, this was when the Giants were playing fairly mediocre ball. They are really clicking right now. But, no one ever takes the Bill Belichick/Tom Brady Patriots lightly. If the game is as good as either one of the Championship Games then we’re in for a very entertaining Super Bowl. Back to the Jumble. I don’t think the answer letter layout gave too much away, but I think it could have been better. I would have swapped “affirm” and “giblet”, and also “unruly”, “sprawl” and “spotty”. But, that’s just nit-picking. It was a good Jumble. Be well and do good, my friends.) — YUR
