(One of Bruce’s earliest roles was as an extra in one of my favorite courtroom dramas of all time, The Verdict, with Paul Newman.  He isn’t credited, but he was one of the courtroom observers.  I never realized this until just now.  The next time it comes on TV I’ll have to look for him.  12 years later they actually acted opposite each other, in Nobody’s Fool.  I think he’s a better actor than he’s given credit for.  He’s certainly had a very long, prolific and lucrative career.  Likeable guy.  Be well, do good . . . and Die Hard!)   —   YUR

Jumble Spoiler – 01/14/12

Clue/Question:  Dr. Frankenstein put a faulty brain in his monster, but the monster . . .

Answer:  DIDN‘T MIND

(Young Frankenstein is one of the funniest movies of all time.  Besides the great writing, the casting was unbelievable.  This is the famous “Abby Normal” brain scene.  A great word gag, but not as funny as the scene where Igor – Marty Feldman – is bringing them to the castle, or the one of the Doctor – Gene Wilder – and the Monster – Peter Boyle – performing Puttin’ on the Ritz.  The movie is hilarious from beginning to end, but those are two of my favorite scenes.  It looks like both “munch” and “hedged” are new to the jumble clue word database.  Not much of a challenge this morning, but a great trip down memory lane.  Great likenesses, Jeff!  Even the un-animated Monster resembles Peter Boyle.  Be well, do good . . . and laugh hard and long, friends.  It’s good for you!)   —   YUR
