(I’m going to go out on a limb . . . and guess that they’re referring to Bernardo de Assunção Mello.  And, who is he???  Apparently, he’s a Brazilian professor at the University of Brasilia.  It looks like they’re going to great lengths to get us harder to solve quotes.  I couldn’t really find any bio on him.  Does anyone out there speak/read Portuguese?  Seja bem e faça bem, amigos.)   —   YUR

Jumble Spoiler – 01/12/12

VEEOK  =  EVOKE,  AOTUQ  =  QUOTA,  TEIHNZ  =  ZENITH,  PEORCP  =  COPPER   —   Giving us:  OQUZIPP

Clue/Question:  Curious about his dad’s childhood, junior gave his father . . .

Answer:  A POP QUIZ

(Kind of a no-brainer today.  The answer letter layout was alright, but it’s kind of hard to hide a short answer in only seven letters.  Personally, I would have switched “copper” and “zenith”, because the QUZI pretty much jumps out at you.  OQUPPZI might have made it a little more challenging.  I saw all the clue words almost instantaneously.  The first two could have been jumbled better.  I liked the jumbling on “zenith”, but we’ve had the word before.  I also liked the jumbling on “copper”, and as it turns out, it is new to the Jumble Clue Word database!  I’m going to have to request an updated file from ralis95, because Mr. Hoyt has been providing us with new words on a pretty consistent basis.  Should we consider the can of soda/pop, on the table, a “bonus clue”?  I like how everyone who reads the paper in Jeff’s cartoons  has it open to the comics page!  If you turn it upside down, and squint, you can even make out a Jumble!  Kind of like product placement.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
