HACCO  =  COACH,  PUINT  =  INPUT,  EPLISV  =  PELVIS,  VRSUYC  =  SCURVY   —   Giving us:  OAINVISRY

Clue/Question:  Ben Franklin was able to invent bifocals because he was a . . .

Answer:  VISIONARY

(I like historical-themed Jumbles!  Franklin was an American Leonardo da Vinci.  His interests, and his accomplishments, were varied and extensive.  I think the character making the comment looks like Mel Gibson, from his movie The Patriot.  Probably about as historically accurate as those silly Dodge commercials with George Washington leading a charge of Challengers against British redcoats, but a good crap-kicker!  Back to the Jumble!  The clue words were well jumbled, although I thought they were quick solves.  “Input” is new to the ralis95 database.  I think that the answer letter layout gave too much away.  The VISRY kind of jumped out at me.  Just switching “scurvy” and “pelvis” would have worked better, making it SRYVI.  That’s my only criticism, though.  I liked the detail in the cartoon.  The Franklin stove, the kite/key he used in “discovering” electricity, Atlantic Ocean currents map, and something else in the corner that I can’t quite make out, not to mention the bifocals.  Lots of fun.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
