(Very clevah!  Three new clue words to add to the database, folks!  I was a little surprised that “batter” is new, but I kinda figured that “verge” and “wring” – great word – were new.  Everything jumbled nicely, and the answer letter layout gave nothing away.  The cartoon sets up the pun very nicely.  That’s it.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
