Cryptoquote Spoiler – 12/06/11

“The pleasure of all reading is doubled when one lives with another who shares the same books.”   —   Katherine Mansfield

(No relation to Jayne.  Sorry, ralis95!  Katherine was an accomplished modernist writer, and Jayne was a blond bombshell movie star, from the mid ’50s to the later ’60s.  Ironically though, they both died at age 34.  Katherine from a long battle with tuberculosis, and Jayne died in a tragic auto accident.  Katherine was an attractive women herself.  She was no Jayne Mansfield, of course, but then again Jayne was no Katherine Mansfield.  If you know what I mean.  I miss Zemanta!  If I had it I could spice these spoilers up with some great pics.  Be well, do good . . . and drive defensively, friends!)   —   YUR

Links will have to do!  Here’s something on Katherine:

Prettier than Marilyn?  Matter of taste, I suppose.

Jumble Spoiler – 12/06/11

Visual Description:  Yer Uncle Rave answering the phone. (Yeah, right!)

WCIET  =  TWICE,  BRELE  =  REBEL,  GREEDD  =  DREDGE,  GLNIFY  =  FLYING   —   Giving us:  ICEEBRDLIN

Clue/Question:  When Lou Ferrigno found out he’d be playing the Hulk on TV, he thought it was this.

Answer:  INCREDIBLE

(Excellent answer letter layout!  It definitely required some thought to get the answer from this layout.  For those of you who are too young, for those of you who don’t remember, and for those of you who were too sophisticated to watch this kind of television – or television at all, for that matter – the name of the television show was “The Incredible Hulk”.  It ran in the late ’70s – early ’80s, and was based on the comic book of the same name.  There was also a feature film in 2008, starring Edward Norton, that went by the same name.  Pretty decent comic book film.  The 2003 film, simply titled “Hulk”, wasn’t bad either, but it was well over two hours long!  There was far too much set up, and it kind of dragged things down.  These types of movies need to get into it much earlier on.   But . . . where was I?  Oh, yeah!  Today’s Jumble!  Only “flying” was new to the database, though all the clue words were well jumbled.  I thought that “rebel” was fairly challenging.  Not a bad likeness of Lou Ferrigno!  Perhaps even a little flattering!  All right, that’s it.  Go about your business, people.  Huh?  You’re not going?  Oh, well . . . “Don’t make me angry.  You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry!”  Be well, do good . . . and try to stay/get in shape!  Sound body, sound mind!)   —   YUR
