Creative minds always have been known to survive any kind of bad training.”   —   Anna Freud

(Yes, and no.  I think that some forms of indoctrination completely squelch true creativity.  Only the rebel creative minds can get past this “training”.)   —   YUR

UDQILI  =  LIQUID,  TELZAO  =  ZEALOT,  EICAEP  =  APIECE,  WNHOYA  =  ANYHOW,  ZCIEOR  =  COZIER,  REOADF  =  FEDORA   —   Giving us:  LUZPEAHZDR

Clue/Question:  When they carved the Jumble into granite, they made a . . .

Answer:  HARD PUZZLE

(Sorry about the protracted delay, but I did beat the buzzer by a couple days!  It was done Sunday AM, but I was busy scraping and painting, and then I ran into router problems.  —  You were right, Max.  But,  I couldn’t post your comment, with the answer.  It’s against my policy.  —  Great concept!  Good clue words, all nicely jumbled.  Great answer letter layout.  And, a great cartoon, with our two favorite puzzlers, Jeff Knurek and David L. Hoyt.  Be well and do good, folks.  Another Sunday Jumble in just a few days!)   —–   YUR

Harmony with land is like harmony with a friend; you cannot cherish his right hand and chop off his left.”   —   Aldo Leopold

(Brilliant quote!  This guy was THE MAN!  I think it should be mandatory that this man’s life be taught in all public schools.  If you don’t know who he was then you should look him up!  Just click on his underlined name.  Peace . . . and harmony.)   —   YUR

HOMPO  =  OOMPH,  EADIB  =  ABIDE,  ERIUFG  =  FIGURE,  LRMGIY  =  GRIMLY   —   Giving us:  OOMADGREGRM

Clue/Question:  Frasier Crane‘s success as a TV character was due in part to this.

Answer:  GOOD “GRAMMER”

(I like it!  Great clue words, especially “oomph”, all nicely jumbled!  We’ve had “abide” before, but with different jumbling.  I’m pretty sure the same applies to both “figure” and “grimly”, as well.  The answer letter layout gave nothing away, which – as you all know – is very important to me.  No challenge in “gimmes”.  It’s a good thing the name comes up in the clue/question, because I don’t think I would have gotten Frasier Crane from the drawing.  Sorry, Jeff.  I’m sure a caricature artist could accentuate one or more of his features, as they would any subject, but Kelsey Grammer has an unremarkable kind of face.  That, and it’s been a while since I’ve seen the show!  I always liked the show, though.  And, until this very moment, I was not aware that two dogs played the part of Eddie!  Interesting.  But, for me, the whole puzzle just worked.  Nice way to close out the work week, guys.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
