Jumble Spoiler – 10/13/11

Mitt-Romney

Visual Description:  A pseudo-Romney and friend (and a security detail), getting a good workout.

NTIEW  =  TWINE,  MREUL  =  LEMUR,  DAANGE  =  AGENDA,  GIKANF  =  FAKING   —   Giving us:  TNEMURGNAIN

Clue/Question:  When the Presidential candidate went jogging, he took this.

Answer:  HIS RUNNING MATE

(Now this one is more like it!  Excellent jumbling of the clue words.  I didn’t write any of them out, but I did step away from both “lemur” and “agenda” before getting them.  Very nice, indeed.  Also, the answer letter layout gave nothing away.  And, I thought today’s cartoon was much more subtle than some recent ones.  Nice word play, too.  I don’t think there’ll be any complaints today.  Well . . . actually, I bet our friend Keith might have a little something to say about “faking”.  Aay!  Whadayagonnado?!?!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

I thought the other guy looked a bit like former Obama advisor David Axelrod. I’m sure he wouldn’t be on Romney’s short list (or long list) for a running mate – but would be an interesting pairing.

I agree that today’s was a quality overall puzzle. Struggled a bit with “agenda” and had to re-write out the letters a few times before getting it.

And actually, the “ing” ending can make puzzles easier. After spotting the “ing” letters in the last word, it wasn’t difficult to put “faking” together.

Hey! You know what they say: “Politics makes strange bedfellows!” A highly unlikely pairing, but after McCain/Palin I don’t know if I can BE surprised anymore!

Oooooooo…loved this puzzle today! AGENDA made me crazy, and even after backing into it, I still couldn’t get it! Finally, after writing it out 15 or so times, going out to dinner, and watching some stupid TV shows, I got it! Long day for me with the Jumble! I like that! Heh, did you guys get TEAM for the second solution word? I did, and when I looked at the answer it said MATE! Cool! It could have been either! Did the boys plan it that way?

No, Lesley. They didn’t plan it that way. But, David L. Hoyt did comment on it (look in the comments for the previous day). He pointed out that it *could* be either way, but MATE made more sense, politically.

When I saw everyone “running” with him, looked like security types
bringing up the rear of the ” running” group, I thought ” team” was
    the fit. ..or a fit.

    Thanks

    JT

    I got “team”, too, mates.
