Buzz and the right publicist are not only important but are crucial in show business.”   —   Roy Halston Frowick

(“All the world’s a stage, And . . .” every other joker seems to think he’s in show business.  “Strange days, indeed!”  Don’t get caught up in all the buzz and chatter, friends.  The distraction is deliberate.  Think for yourselves.  Read between the lines.  As Thomas Jefferson once said:  “I was bold in the pursuit of knowledge, never fearing to follow truth and reason to whatever results they led, and bearding every authority which stood in their way.”   It’s more than just a right, my friends.  It’s a duty.  Peace . . . but don’t acquiesce.)   —   YUR

Jumble Spoiler – 10/11/11

Mt T

Visual Description:  Mr. Hoyt stumping Mr. Knurek.

FSTIW  =  SWIFT,  ESADK  =  ASKED,  LIAEFN  =  FINALE,  DRWEEB  =  BREWED   —   Giving us:  WAKDNALBRE

Clue/Question:  When asked how many cartoons he had drawn, the Jumble artist did this.

Answer:  DREW A BLANK

(What really makes today’s Jumble work – similar to the one with the football coach, who was caught stealing – is the expression on one of the character’s – Jeff’s – face!  Nice job of conveying a totally caught off guard, stunned, deer-in-the-headlights look.  The clue words were all well scrambled, again.  But, don’t get lazy and rely too much on past tense verbs, Mr. Hoyt.  Two of them, two days in a row, is already too much, Cuz.  But, outside of admonishing our word-man, I have to admit that I thought enough of the scrambled “asked” to include it as a “Tag”.  Also, I probably could find a way to live exclusively on coffee and beer, so it’s hard for me to honestly bitch about “brewed”.  I toyed around with fineal – which s/b finial – got lazy, and backed into “finale”.  Coulda spent time, writing out numerous combos of letters to get it, but I didn’t.  So, sue me.  I think the vast majority of you know, by now, that I could have gotten it the tried and true way, but like I said, I got lazy.  Anyway, great word play for today’s answer!  And, super answer letter layout!  If you weren’t able to pick up on Jeff’s expression, and the word play, then this answer would have been tough, because the layout was not going to help you.  Aw-right!  Enough with the jibber-jabber!  I pity the fool who didn’t like today’s Jumble.  Can you imagine if Mike Tyson had sounded more like Mr. T?  Guys would have given up, or taken a dive, immediately after touching gloves.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
