Clue/Question: What the assistant coach would become after he caught the coach stealing equipment.
Answer: A WHISTLE–BLOWER
(A super Sunday Jumble! The only scramblings that didn’t work for me were “actual” and “shadow”. They weren’t bad, but the words just seemed to jump out at me. A little less so with “import”. But, I really liked “sunken”, “awaken” and “byline”! Also, the layout of the answer letters was superlative. I’m guessing that a good number of those who do the Sunday Jumble might have had some trouble getting today’s answer. Jeff captured a nice guilty look on the head coach. Didn’t he? Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

BYLINE took me many tries until hubby said BY, but I was thinking BI. So, I tried the BY by mistake, and line just fell into place. The other words came pretty quickly without much effort,. especially SHADOW and AWAKEN. I then stared at the solution letters all written out on a separate piece of paper. WHISTLE emerged just as I looked up and saw whistles on the coaches! Ah ha!!!!! Great job, guys, on a timely puzzle. After a terrible day of golf, I needed some success!
