(Very cute. I don’t think that most people are necessarily averse to being “the hero”. I think it’s more a matter of the feeling like you’re watching a scene from a movie, or television, or something not quite real, when something requiring a hero unfolds. You’re kind of in a state of disbelief and puzzlement. The one who snaps out of it first is the one who ultimately takes the necessary action that later gets labeled as heroism.
