Visual Description: Post-race victor’s soliloquy.
NFYNU = FUNNY, ENALK = ANKLE, DGAERU = ARGUED, VYNCOO = CONVOY — Giving us: NNANARDONO
Clue/Question: The marathon winner’s victory speech did this.
Answer: RAN ON AND ON
(Today, the answer was pretty obvious, but three of the clue words were pretty challenging! I had to think a bit on “ankle”. But, not too hard. I played around with DGAERU for a while, then decided I’d just come back after getting the fourth word. But, “convoy” even gave me some trouble! Not a whole lot though. I think that DGAERU just kind of spooked me a little. I had to write out different combinations of letters for a change. I still didn’t come up with “argued” though, until I wrote out RUDEGA. Then – don’t ask me why – I just saw it. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
PS. I think that whatever was lingering in my frigging ankle has FINALLY cleared itself up. Heck. It only took eight and a half months! — YUR

Well, of course, ARGUED made me a little crazy, but I finally got it. I really liked that they used CONVOY. It reminded me of song about truck convoys that was popular in the 80’s maybe. Anyway, I’m glad your ankle is back to it’s old self, but my 5th metatarsal still is stirring up trouble now and then. It will be a full year on 11/24 since I broke it. Why do bones take so long to heal?
Is Lesley trying to be coy about her age??? Even without looking it up, I remember Convoy from the mid 70s. Turns out it was exactly 1975. C.W. McCall had the cross-over (Country-to-Pop) hit, that was huge in the U.S. and Canada. They even liked it in England. It started a craze for CB Radios. And, even if you didn’t own one ya just had to come up with yer own CB “handle”. (Mine was “Matinee Idol”)
Lots of fun memories associated with that song. It’s also a great rebellion song. We could use a good rebellion song today!
