Visual Description: Lackadaisical carpenter’s assistants getting chewed out.
GNATE = AGENT, FIUNT = UNFIT, YSPBSA = BYPASS, PYFIYT = TYPIFY — Giving us: ETUPSTPI
Clue/Question: If they wanted to get the staircase done on time, they’d have to do this.
Answer: STEP IT UP
(Another day of topnotch scrambling, by Mr. Hoyt! It’s rare that I have to give the first clue word more than a passing fancy, but today I did. I tend to look for words with vowels in the the second and fourth position, when it’s a five letter word with two vowels. I’m sure we’ve had “agent” before, just not with this configuration. I hesitated with “unfit”, and saved it for last, because – as many of you know – I’ve got a little problem with negative adjectives. “Bypass” is a compound word, another pet peeve, but I’m cool with it here. It’s not like teacup, or anything. And, “typify” is great because; how many six letter words have two Ys? The usual great cartoon from Mr. Knurek. Again, the actual answer was almost anti-climactic, but the answer letter layout gave nothing away. Have a great weekend, guys! Be well and do good.) — YUR

Hi Yur! “TYPIFY” was never going to happen with me today! Luckily, I could solve the Jumble without it…but I couldn’t wait to check your blog for the unscrambling of “PYFIYT.” The longer it took me to unscramble it, the more it looked like/felt like “PITIFUL!” Crazy! BTW, I visit only two blogs every day…your awesome blog and my little blog: http://www.eatyourlettuce.com
Thanks so much!!
See, I told you that Hoyt guy would work out.
All these clue words would have normally been difficult for me because they start with vowels or have Y’s in them, but after a bike ride to the beach, much contemplation about the world, and a margarita, I solved today’s puzzle easily. What’s up with that?
I think you might be taking these too seriously, kid. When you looked in a more relaxed state . . . no problem. They’re just games.
