AVLCO = VOCAL, CEHKC = CHECK, TWRHOG = GROWTH, SARDUB = ABSURD — Giving us: ALERWAD
Clue/Question: Being overcharged for the undercooked steak was this.
Answer: A RAW DEAL
(Once again, great scrambling all around! I toyed with “wrought” before realizing the word simply was “growth”, and “absurd” is such a great word. I wonder how long it took Lesley to get this? The answer letter layout gave nothing away. I don’t have a whole lot of sympathy for our dining dude. When something is undercooked it takes next to no time to remedy the situation. You just pop it back on the grill – or what have you – for another couple of minutes, and all is well. But, when something is overcooked, well . . . you’re toast! They have to recook an entire new one. It takes a heck of a lot longer to do that. If you have a conscience, and worry about it going to waste, then that’s on your mind. Also, if you’re a slow eater it means that everyone else is going to be finished by the time your second attempt arrives. So, chances are you’re just going to bite the bullet, and eat it anyway. How many people eat out alone, anyway? To me, the issue is similar to being cold versus being hot. You can always put more clothing on, or cuddle up with someone, but you’re kind of limited to what you can take off. And, when you’re hot . . . boy, do you want your space! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

“Absurd” was a great word. Was on the verge of heading to the Clue/question then trying to back into it when it finally hit me.
yeah, absurd was a tough one. I had to back into it from the “raw deal” answer.my usual methods fell short! interesting to start with an A.
Cleaning house, cleaning yard, and cleaning pool has made Lesley one very tired “Jumbler.” Therefore, I went to solution to work backwards on ABSURD. Usually, I try to challenge myself and not “cheat” like that, but I’ve been way too worn out these days. Storm damage was limited to yard and tons of pool debris, and I thank God for no flooding!
