IFTIEN = FINITE, HCPTYA = PATCHY, ENMYOK = MONKEY, FINEUS = INFUSE, TTYNWE = TWENTY, GNEAEG = ENGAGE — Giving us: IIPATOENSWENNG
Clue/Question: His new patented broom was such a success that it was this.
Answer: SWEEPING THE NATION
(I hope that Richard didn’t pull all of his hair out over this pun! Maybe we’re going to be seeing Jeff soon on QVC or HSN? I thought this was fun. I hesitated a little with “patchy”. Certain sketchy adjectives leave me a little trigger-tame. The scrambling on “monkey” even had me going. I didn’t spend a lot of time on it, but I had to drive my son to work, so that spared me from thinking too hard on it. It hit me as I was driving home. Also, I was a little surprised to see David sneak in “infuse” so soon since we last saw it. I believe he changed the scrambling, so that makes it OK in my book. The answer letter layout gave nothing away, so I hope that some of you guys had to struggle a little, in getting the answer. Be well, friends.) — YUR
I got the SWEEPING part of the answer from the “The iSWEEPINATOR 2000” sign in the background of the puzzle. I wonder why there is a small letter “i” before SWEEPINATOR. Anyway, FINITE caused me some difficulty along with INFUSE. Looks like a cool device…sort of like my pool robot cleaner which I wish I had gotten the remote control for! YUR, isn’t it cool how stepping away from the puzzle and returning to it later suddenly gives you the unscrambled word? Most of the time I am not even thinking about the puzzle, and the word comes to me quickly upon return.
Lesley,
The little “i” is as in iPad, or iPod, or iPhone. The guy is controlling it with one of these handheld devices! (I wonder if Jeff had to check with Apple’s legal team, to get permission to run the gag?)
I don’t do it very often, and I likely would have gotten “monkey” anyway, before being interrupted. But, changing focus very often helps, when you’ve been concentrating on something a little to hard/long. It’s like when you misplace something. When you stop looking, and get on with other things, you either find it, or remember where you left it.

I had ” cleaning the market ” for answer to fit the circles BEFORE finishing
the clue words. Oh well. JT
