Learn to refuse favors.  This is a great and very useful art.”   —   Thomas Fuller

(I think that today’s politicians might disagree with this statement.  Of course, even those who start out with the best intentions eventually succumb to the pressure from the lobbyists.  I wonder which one is the most powerful and nefarious of the lobbies.  ExxonMobil, Koch Industries, AIPAC, etc.???  Maybe I should take a poll.)   —   YUR

Clue/Question:  His new electric car was a . . .

Answer: VOLTS WAGON

(A little slow on the uptake this morning!  First off, I initially had the third word as LEGALY!  In my mind it looked fine!  So, I had an LEA where the GAL should have been.  Then, I’m looking at the cartoon, and I’m seeing Jeff Knurek instead of Clark Griswold.  Sorry, buddy!  So now, with some bad answer letters, I tried NOVEL as one of the words, but couldn’t do anything with WOAST.  Then I took a closer look at the cartoon and the clue/question and took a stab at VOLTS, but was left with WONEA?!?!  So now, with a third look at the cartoon, I’m realizing this “new” electric car looks like an old Vista Cruiser, or something.  Actually, a Ford LTD Country Squire . . . in the movie.  Now I’m realizing, this isn’t Jeff!  This is Chevy Chase as Clark Griswold, in Vacation.  And, my earlier suspicion that WONEA should – somehow – be WAGON made me re-evaluate the third word.  Knowing I needed a G actually made getting “galley” pretty easy.  The shorts on both of the characters should have been another big clue, but I just wasn’t seeing it.  What a great movie, though!  It’s where I fell in love with Beverly D’Angelo!  Christie Brinkely???  Pffftt!  Who needs her, when you’ve got the loverly Beverly?!!  One of my favorite scenes in the movie is when old Aunt Edna is eating a sandwich, and is informed that the dog just peed on them!  Instead of doing some kind of a spit take, she just shrugs it off and takes another bite!  Mmm!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
