Think

Clear thinking requires courage rather than intelligence.”   —   Thomas Szasz

(I think I might switch out the word intelligence with education.  There are just so many different kinds of intelligence that people possess.  But, I know a lot of “highly educated” people who do not have the nerve to see things as they really are.  And, they often use their education to attack those who do think clearly, but who may not express themselves as well.  Their written and verbal parlor games are usually clever and flowery, but they amount to a kind of cowardly choreography.)   —   YUR

Yeah, as Bertrand Russell said: Education makes you stupid. I learned numbers and patterns before I got to school and a quarter of a century of formal education was unable to beat it out of me. That’s how I survived.

    Vishal,

That is not what I was saying. And, I’m a little saddened to see you say that, with what looks like some level of approval. If there is anything wrong with the state of the world, right now, it’s the over-riding level of “business intelligence”. Through 30 + years of deregulation we have surrendered far too much control to various corporate entities. To a large extent we have gradually become enslaved to them. What we need is a new wave of “humanistic intelligence” to help wash away this corporate stain, and release us from our bonds.

    Anti-pasto,

That is not to say that education, in and of itself, is a bad thing, but it can and has been used as a form of control for a very long time. If there is one thing that our education system is failing at horribly, it is in teaching us how to *think critically*. It does that very purposefully, because the people in power want/like/need to control us. The more who dare to question authority, the greater the anxiety of the authoritarian.

Do what it takes to survive,my brother.
