Answer: A TEST DRIVE
(Tell you what I’m gonna do, friend. Just because I like your face, I’m gonna let you have this little number for a song! Once upon a time – I think I was 8 or 9 at the time – I had a very loud sports jacket. And, I guess that’s about as close to being a car dealer as I ever got. But, in cartoons . . . all things are possible! For those of you who get the micro-Jumble — some papers are really cheap with the ink — get out your magnifying glass, and take a look at the sign in the background. It reads: “Uncle Rave’s Cars”. Yes, your buddy, your pal, your favorite loud-mouthed uncle, and friend to Jumble fans EVERYWHERE, has finally made it into the Funny Pages! Very Funny, Jeff. The wife thinks we should frame it. And, to top things off, my good name is being lent to a pretty decent Jumble! “Novel” is not new, but the scrambling may be. And, “divert” could be new, but I’d leave that determination up to ralis95. The answer letter layout didn’t give away the answer, so I’m one happy camper this morning! Thanks for the shout out, fellas!) — YUR
PS. If I’m going to sell cars they’ve got to be higher end cars! — YUR

My newspaper is one of those you describe! The cartoon is barely 1.125″ wide by 2.125″ high and, as such, I could not make out the sign giving you a plug. Even with a magnifying glass it was difficult! But congrats – what a way to win everlasting fame!! As for the words – NOVEL and DIVERT have been around awhile, but SWEPT and PUPPET are new. Database is now up to 2420 words! The word “Drive” in the solution jumped out at me, and then “Test.” Great puzzle and congrats again on your sign. Since my cartoon is sooooo small, perhaps you’ll email a copy of yours for posterity?

Definitely suitable for framing, Uncle.
