“It’s too bad I’m not as wonderful a person as people say I am, because the world could use a few people like that.” — Alan Alda
(Always liked Alan Alda! He’s got a great mind, and he’s a much better actor than he’s given credit for. He doesn’t always play the smiling, charming and witty character, that most have come to expect. I’ve seen him play a few real rat-bastards, very convincingly. I can still remember a lot of conservatives complaining that the television series M*A*S*H ran four times as long as the actual Korean War (Conflict . . . Police Action . . . whatever)! What a ridiculous thing to complain about. They just didn’t like the idea that a show, with such a strong anti-war sentiment, was so popular, for so long. Don’t worry, you right-minded lovers of violence and *the law*. You’ll always have Gunsmoke!) — YUR
PS. John McCain can bite me! Shoot the messenger??? A messenger only delivers the message. Standard and Poor’s crafted this message, with a decidedly Republican-Corporate anti-ANY-tax bent. He is still even talking about reducing the corporate tax rate!!! Hey, why should the federal government care AT ALL about revenues, huh John? The same guys who reduced most of their payrolls through automation, and then out-sourced the rest of the jobs to third world countries, and pay their execs obscene salaries and bonuses, while their rank and file employees lose more and more benefits and rights each day – the big corporations, they’ll take care of us! Right, John? Rii-iight! I used to have a lot more respect for this man. Now, he’s just a willing, shallow tool of a suffocating Corporatocracy. — YUR
