(Cute quote.  But, everything online attributes the quote to the MAD Magazine mascot, Alfred E. Neuman, and nothing on this vague Mr. Anderson.  Bill Gaines and Harvey Kurtzman are the creators of MAD Magazine, and I don’t see any connection to an E. Anderson.  It sounds more like something Josh Billings or Mark Twain, or even Will Rogers, might have said.  I guess this is either a mystery . . . or a mistake.)   —   YUR

Jumble Spoiler – 08/04/11

Visual Description:  Saturday, in the park. (I think it was the 4th of Ju-ly-y.)

HECBA  =  BEACH, HAKLC  =  CHALK,  DISARU  =  RADIUS,  NUIDNW  =  UNWIND   —   Giving us:  EALKASWN

Clue/Question:  What the waterfowl turned the pond into.

Answer:  SWAN LAKE

(A couple of good clue words, today.  Both “radius” and “unwind” took a little thought.  Overall, pretty good scrambling.  I don’t know if the Clue could have been phrased any differently, but for me, it made the answer even more obvious.  Maybe using “waterfowl” was a little heavy-handed?  Considering how good the drawing is maybe simply saying BIRDS would have made it a little vaguer, and thus more challenging.  Be well, friends.)   —   YUR
