Cryptoquote Spoiler – 08/01/11

It is amazing how complete is the delusion that beauty is goodness.”   —   Leo Tolstoy

(Very true observation.  And, a nice compliment to yesterday’s – Sunday’s – cryptoquote.  Happy Birthday to the state of Colorado!  They were admitted to the Union as the 38th state, on this date in 1876.  Happy 135th! )   —   YUR

Bonus Quote:  “As scarce as truth is, the supply is always greater than the demand.”   —   Josh Billings

(Boy, oh boy!  Is this ever the truth.  People, in general, seem so much more comfortable living with a palatable lie, than having to swallow the bitter truth.  I think it’s like what Col. Jessep says in the climactic scene from A Few Good Men:  “You can’t handle the truth!”  Very often the truth does hurt . . . a lot.  But, for the truly important things in life I just can’t see this blind acceptance of lies.)   —   YUR

Jumble Spoiler – 08/01/11

LIttle League baseball, May 2009 - 13

Visual Description:  Outfielder adjusting to his new, assigned position.

GSITH  =  SIGHT,  HICRA  =  CHAIR,  SMLOYT  =  MOSTLY,  ICCNIP  =  PICNIC   —   Giving us:  HCAOTNC

Clue/Question:  The Little Leaguer struggled at his new position, at first, but later he would . . .

Answer:  CATCH ON

(Very basic clue words, today.  But, I did like the scrambling on “chair”!  Good job on the answer letters, as well.  I first toyed with the idea of the second word being AT, but CONCH AT made absolutely NO sense!  That’s for you, Richard!  All around . . . not bad.  About what you’d expect for a Monday.  Be well, and try to do good, friends.)   —   YUR
