Our attitude toward life determines life’s attitude toward us.”   —   John Mitchell

(Despite the apostrophe, I had a very difficult time solving today’s quote!  I had the E and the S from the beginning, but everything else was up for grabs, for quite a while.  After realizing that the first word could be “our” and the last word might be “us” I was finally able to crack “attitude”.  From there it all fell into place.  I thought I was going to have to appeal to you guys for a hint of some kind.  The gubmint must’ve pumped in stupid gas through mah winder last night!)  🙂      YUR

Jeter Jumble Spoiler – 07/28/11

Derek Jeter

Visual Description:  “Way on the other side of the Hudson . . .”

RERBY  =  BERRY,  ENSSE  =  SENSE,  FAFEWL  =  WAFFLE,  TNEJKU  =  JUNKET   —   Giving us:  RYSEWEJNE

Clue/Question:  Where THE Yankee went to get a replacement for part of his uniform.

Answer:  NEW JERSEY

(Just for Lesley, guys???  Just kidding!  I’ll never be a Yankee fan, but I’ve never had anything against “The Kid”.  Besides being a great all-around player, Derek Jeter exemplifies all the best qualities of just about any sport.  He’s humble and respectful to all.  He’s even-tempered and a “good sport”, win or lose.  He doesn’t complain, and does what is needed, with a superlative work ethic.  And, he’s grown into the kind of leader that coaches love.  One who can lead – primarily – by example.  As impressive as his overall numbers might be, it’s his intangibles that make him one of the – if not THE – most revered players of this era.

I don’t know about anyone else, but all the clue words jumped off page for me, today.  Also, with the sign and the New York skyline, the answer was pretty obvious.  Despite the name of the company, from this vantage point it’s more likely located in Weehawken or Hoboken.  Possibly Jersey City, but definitely not Newark.  Nice “Guido” working the counter, Jeff!  Ayyy!  Does Tony Soprano run this shop, or what?!  I’m sure, at the very least, he providing some kind of . . . “insurance”.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

PS.  Since yesterday was a “Name That Tune” spoof, what song does today’s Visual Description line come from?
