Visual Description: Necessary bureaucracy to prevent sub-standard, and unsafe, structures.
EUNQE = QUEEN, PTOEM = TEMPO, FPTIRO = PROFIT, DNICTU = INDUCT — Giving us: EENTMOPRTIDT
Clue/Question: Starting construction without the proper paperwork was . . .
Answer: NOT PERMITTED
(Good way to end the work week! Everything was well-scrambled. No giveaways. I thought both “profit” and “induct” were fairly challenging. As is so often the case with these Jumbles, it’s what isn’t said that is often the biggest clue. Most people know that contractors are required a “building permit” before starting construction. The guys danced around this by calling it “the proper paperwork”. It’s like what I try to tell you guys about watching the news these days. You have to listen for/be aware of what they’re NOT saying, as much as what they are saying. Keep this in mind and you’ll be a better Jumble solver and, if not better informed, at least a more conscious citizen. What we don’t know can hurt us. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
It’s only 6 letters and I can’t get the word (profit). Glad you’re here to help. Love your column.
Happy to be of service, Victor! Rough getting/finding “profit”, huh? The times they are a tough! Even with adds Unclerave can’t turn one.

Be well, Unc!
PROFIT was hard!!!! Easy to get solution for me as my late husband was the Building Inspector for a small town for 15 years! Dinner conversations were always about people trying to “skate” and not get permits! It used to make him crazy!
It might *seem* like a bunch of bureaucratic hoo-hah, but building permits ARE very important! How many times have we heard/read about people who died in fires – including firefighters – because rooms were illegally divided?! And, usually they are not built to code! I consider myself a bit of a rebel, but when it comes to issues of safety I’m as straight an arrow that ever flew.
