Jumble Spoiler – 06/20/11

Le massage huile sur toile

Visual Description:  A guy looking not too pleased that his masseuse is multi-tasking.

Clue/Question:  The massage therapist bought a new headset for her phone so she could do this.

(Very nice!  GREAT clue words, ALL well scrambled!  I really liked “yahoo” and “uproot”.  The answer letters were well scrambled, too.  Jeff gave us some great details, in the planted orchid and the mini-waterfall machine.  I’m telling ya, unless she really gives a SUPERLATIVE massage, she would NOT get much of a tip from me.  Cell phones!  Don’t get me started!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

PS.  Continuing in my commitment to bringing you classic nudes!   —   YUR

ok, I’m new… I get the planted orchid, but what clue does the mini-waterfall machine give us? thanks.

Not a clue, just a wonderful eye for detail.

They both play into setting the atmosphere for relaxation. The orchid has visual and olfactory stimulating qualities. And, the waterfall machine is visually and aurally stimulating.

    Well said, Uncle. Stay well!

For the first time in a long time, I got stumped on this one. I surprised myself when I solved the “Every Day Count” without looking last week, but this one eluded me.

Was trying to thing of what goes into a massage… “rub,” “fingers,” “relax,” etc. but nothing matched with the circled letter combinations. I do the Jumble during my lunch hour, and had to get to a meeting, so threw in the towel. Arrrgh.

Don’t worry, Keith. Just as every dog has his day, so too do the gifted stumble!

Orchid? Ithought is was an Oscar with a mutant hand. I thought the waterfall was a swiveling washboard.

Cast in youth did not work. Chat in youst? Can you say stumper? The serenity of the picture I got. The annoying phone call part I missed. People chatting on cell-phones rather loudly really…. All right, good job for a Monday puzzle. This one took all day. I got the words right away but the punch line was a stumper.

    Now, frenulum.
Don’t go dissin’ our buddy, Mr. Knurek! An Oscar with a mutant hand is just TOO funny! And a swiveling washboard??? What is this? The episode of The Beverly Hillbillies where Jethro Bodine gets a massage? You are a funny guy, frenulum.

Ha! You guys are making me laugh! I had trouble with YAHOO only because I didn’t trust myself that it was a real word! I got the solution surprisingly quickly only because of the IN. Then I thought it was KEEP IN TOUCH, so I looked at the answer and figured I was close enough. The painting is so relaxing to look at and so realistic, and I am assuming it is Ancient Rome. I am obsessed with Ancient Roman gardens, homes, and baths, so when in Italy last year, the tour guides had to hurry me along, for I was lost in reverie! Nice choice, YUR!

I’d buy Ancient Rome, Lesley! The wife and I were big fans of “I Claudius” on PBS and “Rome” on HBO! Glad you like the painting. So real . . . I’m tempted to join in the fun!

I really dig your parting words: “stay well and do good friends”!
    Very peaceful and calm.

Thanks, John. I figure, regardless of the tone of my commentary I should finish up on a calmer, more upbeat mood.
