Jumble Spoiler – 06/09/11

Clue/Question:  The game between the flamingos and the geese was a disaster because of these.

(For about half a minute I thought the answer was going to be tough to get.  12 answer letters is a lot for a weekday jumble, but when you spread it out over 3 words it’s not too bad.  The quotation marks were probably the biggest clue.  Everything was scrambled nicely, but the only word that really made me think was “oddest”.  The drawing was fun.  I really liked the – boo? – birds, in the stands, and of course the penguin referee.  There used to be a diner, near my old job, called The Flamingo.  We always referred to it as The Flaming O!  It’s very hard for me to get interested in either the NBA, or NHL, Finals anymore.  The seasons are just WAY too long, now.  I don’t have a horse in either of the races, although I do have my preferences.  And, we are already one third of the way through the baseball season!  Basketball?  Hockey??  Gimme a break!  It’s 96 degrees outside!  It’s nearly as bad with the overlap of the football and baseball seasons.  But, I guess it’s a little more tolerable because each team in football plays only once a week.  Personally, I blame the greed of the owners, and television.  Pro sports broadcasting is just SO lucrative.  We, the “consumers”, are ultimately the ones paying for it all . . . in a variety of ways.  Be well and do good, nieces and nephews!)   —   YUR

All the clue words kind of went along with the basketball them or birds! HA! Anyway, ODDEST gave be a little trouble, also, and I kept thinking FOWLS was something else even though I had all the letters. Tired I guess! As for basketball…boring to watch and too much pushing and shoving to play, even when I was in HS. I prefered field hockey!

And, today they call it *making their move*, but in my day it was called TRAVELING! Too many guys play for the 3 point shot these days. If they’re hot it’s alright – but a little overdone – and if they’re not it sucks.

I am also from Germany therefore we are certainly proud of Dirk Nowotzki. A German born is known as a star in the superlative basketball league worldwide. Everyone is thrilled how the Us americans celebrate “all of our” Dirk. This might be significantly less well recognized in the usa.
