Visual Description: Producer proposing his progressive inter-planetary program . . . passionately!
KRDIN = DRINK, VGEIN = GIVEN, HARETG = GATHER, GPSYIT = PIGSTY — Giving us: RINGENTERPIS
Clue/Question: Gene Roddenberry‘s ability to get “Star Trek” on the air in 1966 showed that he was . . .
Answer: ENTERPRISING
(Just the guys showing their GEEKY side! Actually, I am a fan, too. Of the original series, and – a little less so – of “The Next Generation”. After that I totally lost interest. I also liked the movies, including the newer J.J. Abrams one, although some purists thought it was heresy! Today’s clue words were scrambled well. For the third word I started writing down TARGET before realizing I wasn’t using the H, and I’d need another T. I had to work a little to get “gather”, even though it’s a pretty basic word. “Pigsty” gave me the usual trouble that all compound words do. But, the scrambling of the answer letters was a huge step backwards, in my book. The word ENTER stands out right in the middle of the letters. Just switching the order of “pigsty” and “gather” would have made it: RINGENPISTER. That would have made it much more of a challenge. My nephew, David, must have been in a hurry to get this one in. “Live long and prosper”, friends!) — YUR
PS. I’ve seen his Walk of Fame STAR, twice! — YUR
Every clue word was pretty easy, but PIGSTY threw me a bit, even though I think we had it before! I got ENTERPRISING after GATHER! I don’t know why it took me so long! I wasn’t a BIG fan of Star Trek, but a fellow teacher was and had a bunch of Tribles in his room which he gave away at the end of the year reward party we had in 6th grade. The kids loved it!
