“Why do birds sing in the morning? It’s the triumphant shout: ‘We got through another night!’” — Enid Bagnold
(I think nowadays that would be a pretty tough name to go throughout life with! Not a lot of Enids out there, anymore. And, coupled with Bagnold? Hoo-boy! She could have taken the easy way out, when she got married, and became Lady Jones. But, she stayed with her maiden name, for professional purposes. She was a fairly prolific author and playwright, with National Velvet being her best known work. Her great-granddaughter is Samantha Cameron, wife of the U.K.’s current Prime Minister, David Cameron.) — YUR
