Cryptoquote Spoiler – 04/13/11

Thomas Paine; a painting by Auguste Millière (...

If there must be trouble, let it be in my day, that my child may have peace.”   — Thomas Paine

(Makes a certain amount of sense.  But, it also sounds like a rationalization for launching a “preemptive war”.  Of course, some preemptive wars – not to be confused with preventive wars – are truly necessary.  Just not as often as our leaders would like us to believe.)   — YUR

(Redemptive) Jumble Spoiler – 04/13/11

Coyote

Image via Wikipedia

Visual Description:  A man and a woman with different fiscal philosophies.

SBHUL  =  BLUSH,  NMSIU  =  MINUS,  YOTCEO  =  COYOTE,  GTNEHL  =  LENGTH   —   Giving us:  BLINSCEET

Clue/Question:  Saving your pennies could be considered this.

Answer:  CENTSIBLE

(MUCH better!  As per Keith’s observations from yesterday, “coyote” was was a bit tougher because it has three – and sometimes four – vowels in its makeup.  Another thing that made it a little harder – take note, Keith – to get is that the word is not spelled phonetically.  The three other clue words were pretty easy to get.  The scrambling of the answer letters was not obvious, which is always a plus, in my book.  Today’s answer was an honest to goodness pun!  And, the bonus for me was . . . no unnecessary “bonus clue”!  I’m a happy camper, today.  Rag off!  Do good and be well, friends.)   — YUR
