I know exactly what Thoreau means, for I love to fish myself! There is so much more to it…
For me, it was always either the solitude, or the quiet camaraderie of a few close buddies, and the communing with nature. I was primarily a catch and release fisherman. I haven’t seriously fished since my teens.
