Ain’t it the truth!!! I like how Mitch McConnell blows bipartisan talk out of the water by saying they need to focus now on 2012 so they can get a Pres in who won’t veto what they are trying to accomplish. So we shall see how the Repubs do if they think it is so easy to run the country that was basically in the toilet when Obama came in. Short memories of the eight years of hell that got us to the brink of another Great Depression. We’ll be watching their performance….!

It is clear to me that given a need for extemporaneous speaking, our new speaker of the house, has grown a foot where a mouth used to be. Will the true republican ? tea partier ? please stand up ? And he does, opens his mouth and what tumbles forth are a few toes quickly followed by the whole foot which precedes an ankle, a calf and a knee. Oh my god ! I’m afraid to look ! ! !

How many times did he attempt to drive home the impression that his parties ( plural ) were now the voice of the people, ignoring the fact that they didn’t take the senate, and that their wins were so pitiful, so small across the board leaving only the house in harness, but by such a small majority that it could hardly be said to reflect the “voice of the people.” No, this vote did not reflect the voice of the people. And even in the 2008 election when it could be rightly said that the vote “did” reflect the voice of the people, President Obama was always sensitive to the fact that elected officials of either party are there to represent all the people, not just a few.

So, what’s this “we the people” nonsense, which he repeated so many times within his short statement that I was afraid there would be no “real” statement of any worth. And then it came tumbling out. “If president Obama does precisely what we tell him to do, everything will be just fine.”. Is this the foot “we” placed in charge of the house ? And on further examination, I see the foot is wearing a storm troopers boot. Well… perhaps some of us didn’t really think this through.

President Obama’s job now is to navigate through shark infested waters of a new house rule. And for those of us who felt we were losing our civil liberties before the election, “we ain’t seen nothin yet!”

Here’s what I’m wondering. Did the republicans let us win by not manipulating the vote in the 2008 election ? Had they not manipulated the vote in the 2000, 2004 elections would the huge margin of winning votes have been the same.as in 2008. Did they mean to let us win in 2008, knowing they could enlist those southern racists who’ve only recently come from under their sheets to inspire every skin head, every gun toting whacko in the U.S. to stand up for their rights to take their country back ? ( Straight out of left overs from the civil war isn’t it ?) Did they then imagine that with a little help from our good friend Rover ( I mean Rove ), they could make a few adjustments here and there, and assure a win for the republicans across the board ?

According to John Boehner and Mitch McConnell, “We’ll continue the agenda of the right, and obstruct, ignore, deny. But we’ll support the wars, etc.etc.etc.”.

And we’ll do as they say, or else.( they imply ) And shortly after the election, miraculously, money appears from out of nowhere ( the fed ) that will solve all of our financial and job loss problems ??? And all it will cost is our democracy .

Unfortunately, FOX News and AM talk-radio have their sheep in a total state of denial. IF FDR had met with the same kind of *resistance* 70 some years ago we might all be speaking German today. When a country is in this bad a shape, and the President – who won by a landslide – puts forth imperative initiatives, it is every patriotic congressman’s duty to support them. Hoping that their President fails??? Guys like Boehner and McConnell should be brought up on charges of treason.

For the record, Your Uncle Rave does not believe the South has any kind of patent on racism. The prim and proper state of Connecticut had long – I don’t know if it’s still the case today – had the largest chapter of the Ku Klux Klan in the entire USA. Unfortunately, it (racism) DOES still exist, all over this great land. Ironically, it’s even practiced by a large segment of our immigrant population! There are tolerant people in every corner of this great nation as well. It’s just that the ugliness of intolerance stands out more.

I think Boehner is a classic bully. Bullies are basically insecure. I think we should all just point at him, and laugh our asses off!

Quite right. Over the years,I have come to expect the Republicans to cultivate the absolute worst in us and of us. It’s a shame. I remember a time when there were Republicans who were at least civilized, and there were some who possessed a working conscience… the absolute antithesis of the thugs we see today.

I wish that laughing at Boehner would do the trick. He needs to be utterly compromised in some way.. perhaps caught with his hand in the till or some such thing. And I’d bet anything that he’s on the take in a big way.
