DAFEM  =  FAMED,  GEFOB  =  BEFOG,  WENITH  =  WHITEN,  YARFER  =  RAREFY   —   Giving us:  AMFOWTNRR

Clue/Question:  What the forecaster experienced when he faced the fire.

Answer:  A WARMFRONT

(Some nice clue words today!  I think there’s a tendency to think of the word “rarefy” as being spelled “rarify”, because that’s the way it sounds like it should be spelled.  It is a recognized variant of “rarefy”, but not the preferred spelling.  English is a very difficult language.  There are so many exceptions to the rules.  Anyone who can master it, especially as a second language, has an awful lot to deal with.)   —   YUR
