Actually, what she says is quite deep. As a writer, I can tell you that I write what I “see,” whether in the real world or in my mind. I use words to describe it – in detail, or as backdrop to the path of the story. As for painting with your ears, it makes total sense to listen to the harmony of the scene or image and to convey it to the viewer as the painter “hears” it.
