HOPUC = POUCH, TESCA = CASTE, GURTIA = GUITAR, WURFOR = FURROW — Giving us: PHASEGTARRW
Clue/Question: Too much wine can result in the . . .
Answer: WRATH OF GRAPES
(For whatever reason, “GUITAR” just kicked my butt this morning! And, they even gave me/us the first two letters . . . in the proper order! I guess that’s an example of hiding in plain sight. And great scrambling of the answer letters. I kind of got lucky, in that I initially thought the first word might be WATER, which left me with letters that could spell GRAPHS. From that the Steinbeck wordplay just kinda hit me. Great jumble, boys! This gets two thumbs up from yer Unclerave.) — YUR

I got ‘water’ thinking that’s what the woman was holding in her hand. Then all that was left was Graphs. Didn’t think it made sense.
Right, Keith. It made no sense to me, as well. But, with graph sounding somewhat like wrath, and with “wine” in the clue/question, and with graphs and grapes being only one letter off, AND with Water/Graphs and Wrath/Grapes both being W/G words . . . it all kind of fell into place. I bet it gave trouble to a lot of puzzle solvers!
Didn’t anyone else have trouble getting “guitar”? I’m not seeing it come up in my blog stats, as a search criteria! Am I the only one who couldn’t see the forest for the trees???
