Jumble Spoiler – 08/11/10

Visual Description:  Take your kids to work night at the observatory.

Clue/Question:  Easy to get from astronomers.

Answer:  NO (or ON) MORE STARS

(Or it could be NO, or ON, ROME STARS!  Maybe could be a bunch of other things?  Ones like this don’t have the pun element.  They don’t really fit well with the picture or question.  It’s just a kind of trick.  It’s alright for a little change of pace, but it kinda leaves me wanting more.  How do you kids feel about it?)   —   YUR

Yeah it’s confusing. Doesn’t make much sence with the picture. I think it’s supposed to be on more stars, but you’re right, no pun and not much fun… Oh well.

I find the answer confusing. It really does not make any sense to me.

They were just making a related phrase using the letters in the word “astronomers”, with the letters scrambled. Maybe you’ve seen some of the ones in one of those popular email forwards. DORMITORY = DIRTY ROOM

They’ve done ones like this before. I’m just not much of a fan of these types.

    Thanks for ringing in, gentlemen!

    how bout…..

    as tron omers…..

  5. 5 mike August 11, 2010 at 1:16 pm

wouldn’t the asnwer just be “AS TRON OMERS” because that is “easy” to get from “ASTRONOMERS”?

That might be a little too easy, guys. “tron” is only a suffix, not a full word. — YUR

This one took me forever. I did get “on more stars,” which I figured was incorrect. Thanks UR for confirming my answer. I would have been going nuts otherwise.

    or RE: Moon stars

The consensus seems to be ON (or NO) MORE STARS, but you never know, Keith! Looks like we have a new entry. — YUR

RE: MOON STARS! They didn’t provide a colon for us, but I LIKE it! — YUR

The letters can be arranged to make the word “astronomers.” But the three-word answer makes little sense. “No more stars”?? It’s not funny or clever!

  12. 12 Toby August 11, 2010 at 6:44 pm

If “omers” what’s an omer? The answer isn’t in quotes, like a pun, so it can’t be “as-tron-nomers”

Should have been a phrase like ‘ Star Treatment ‘ or ‘ Eye on the Sky ‘. I didn’t like this jumble. Poorly developed.

It’s lame when their is more than one possible answer to the puzzle. To me that indicates poor puzzle design. Shame on you Jumble guys!

Well it did get everybody talking. That’s pretty clever. Although the answer did frustrate me.

Yeah As Tron Omers would work, but there is no ” in the jumble to indicate puns. No More Stars it is…. poorly developed though…
