Clue/Question: When the marathon runner developed blisters, there was . . .
Answer: TROUBLE, AFOOT
(I have no idea what the comma is for. Other than that I liked today’s jumble. Gonna be another HOT one, here in the Mid-Atlantic region. And, a return of the dreaded HUMIDITY! Try to stay cool, kids.) — YUR
The coma, …there was trouble, (pause) a foot.
A foot was the trouble.
I check my puzzle skills on you blog everyday!
🙂
Thanks, Justin.
But, there was also the (semi-shakespearean) play on words of: trouble afoot. With the spacing that they used yesterday, that’s the way it would play out, and there would/should be no call for the comma. In today’s Yesterday’s answer they DO make it three separate words though. I guess they wanted to have it both ways. They pretty much do what they want, anyhow.

I see, well that all makes sense. No telling how they meant it I guess. I do enjoy your blog almost daily, thank you for creating it.
No, dude (man, brother, bro-sky, compadre, and comrade). Thank YOU for your almost daily visits!
They DO want to have it both ways, though. There’s always some kind of play on words, or pun, that corresponds with something more literal. “A” space “FOOT” was the literal, and “AFOOT” was the play on words. They kind of switched horses, from one day to the next, with this one. I’ve gotten used to their little inconsistencies though, so it’s no big deal.
