Cryptoquote Spoiler – 07/06/10

Day, n.  A period of twenty-four hours, mostly misspent.”   — Ambrose Bierce

(This threw me for a while!  I figured the “X” had to be either an “A” or an “I”.  I went with “I” at first.  There was no obvious “E” . . . no real tell words.  After guessing right on the “O” something clicked with the “twenty-four” and “hours”.  But, even when it was done I didn’t quite get it for a while.  Day N???  Finally, it dawned on me that it was constructed as a humorous dictionary definition!)   — YUR

Jumble Spoiler – 07/06/10

Visual Description:  Jealous servants, watching their rich employer with her pet.

EUQUE  =  QUEUE,  YIXTS  =  SIXTY,  LUBBEA  =  BAUBLE,  ROPOLY  =  POORLY   —   Giving us:  UUXYALPRL

Clue/Question:  What the wealthy matron’s cat enjoyed.

Answer:  THE “LAP” OF LUXURY

(Kinda topical!  There’s that human-interest/distraction story of the lady who left $3 Mil. to her pet dog, and another $27 Mil. to her bodyguards and housekeeper.  The son is convinced that they manipulated the old girl into setting up her will that way.  Maybe along with tort reform they should also look into will reform!)   — YUR

(PS.  Before all that they should seriously look into news reform!)   — YUR
