Cryptoquote Spoiler – 01/26/10

Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.”   — Maria Robinson

(My first thought was:  Great quote! But, my second thought was:  Who? It’s like an everyday name – doesn’t she work in collections? – but not really a famous name.   There is next to nothing on her, out there in www-land.  She could actually be one of a couple writers with this name, but it’s most likely, to me, that she’s the fiction writer, and not the child development writer.  There is one other quote attributed to her, and it’s an odd kind of  double entendre.  It actually took me a few minutes to get it.  Anywho . . . great quote, wot?) —   YUR

Jumble Spoiler – 01/26/10

Visual Description:  Grumpy old man, resenting the intrusion.

CHATY  =  YACHT,  NAKOE  =  OAKEN,  RELDEG  =  LEDGER,  HIPLAC  =  CALIPH   —   Giving us:  ACKNLRCAL

Question/Clue:  When the grouch answered the phone, it turned into a . . .

Answer:  “CRANKCALL

(Don’t disturb a man while he’s working on the Jumble!!! I must be tired today, because I couldn’t seem to spell “yacht” for a while – I had “yatch” – and I initially had “phalic” for “caliph”.  Of course the word I thought I had come up with is actually phallic, but many people pronounce that word as if it were spelled phalic.  Did I mention that I was tired?) —   YUR
