(I wonder if this line is from one of his plays?  Maybe “She Stoops To Conquer”.  Hmm!  My college drama teacher is probably spinning in his grave at my NOT remembering this.  Sorry Fred! I believe I even had a part, or two, in a school production of She Stoops.  Ay-yi-yi!  Too much water under the bridge.  I find it interesting that this quote is also credited to Ralph Waldo Emerson, who was born about 30 years after Goldsmith died, and . . . to Confucius!  But, then again, how many famous lines have NOT been attributed to Confucius?!) —   YUR
