I love this quote. It’s always been one of my favorites!
I’m with you, Fitch. It’s just that this quote has been done to DEATH! I don’t know how many e-mails I’ve received containing this quote, but it has to be in the thousands! And, at the VERY least, half of them had to be chain letters. I don’t really buy into chain letters . . . but I’m just superstitious enough where I feel compelled to forward them on. But, back to overdone phrases. I know some people, with really bad hay fever, that get sick and tired of hearing “God bless you!”, or even the more laic “Bless you!”. It’s not that they’re atheists, or anything, it’s just that they’ve heard it MORE than enough. After watching this week’s Democratic Convention, I’ve started to feel the same way about “God bless you . . . and God bless America!” I love my country, but after the first dozen, or so, clowns end their speech with that phrase it really becomes . . . I don’t know . . . trite . . . cheapened. 90+% of politicians are just so insincere, and controlled by focus groups and polls, that they just end their speeches that way because they are told to, not because they reaaly want to. I highly doubt that God favors one country above all others, and this week has really brought that idea to the front of Uncle Rave’s little pea-brain.
Thank you, for indulging me in my rant!
