OCKAL = CLOAK, DEYNE = NEEDY, GALEEB = BEAGLE, DROBIF = FORBID — Giving us: CLAEEDBEAFRI
Visual Description: Gazing at a portrait of Lincoln, a father tells his son: He was known as Honest Abe.
Clue/Question: What Abraham Lincoln never told.
Answer: A BEARDFACE LIE
Thank you for trying to figure out the spoiler. However, the final answer is “…A BAREFACED LIE.” The next day’s jumble has the answer.
Oooh, John! Not too sure I like the back-handed compliment – “Thank you for TRYING to figure out the spoiler” – but I DO have to admit that I was (most likely – JK LOL!) wrong about the Jumble of 05/31/08. (That’s the date of the paper where I saw that particular Jumble.) You are absolutely right though, despite “beardface” *fitting* it is not a recognized word, as far as dictionaries are concerned. (beardfaceD might get a pass, in some circles, but definitely not beardface)
I shall print a retraction and give you the credit that you deserve, sir.
But, who looks at the previous day’s answer in the next day’s Jumble? That’s for people with lack of confidence issues.
;p
