Hey, Toby!

I think it’s just because in today’s (Western) society we don’t see too many people at our doorstep, with any regularity, save for the postal carriers. Home delivery of milk, bread, snacks (we had Charles’ Chips when I was a kid), or diapers is pretty rare these days. The days of the travelling salesmen are all but gone, although we do get the occasional college-aged kid selling magazine subscriptions, or someone selling some form of home remodelling. Even the Jehovah’s Witnesses only stop by sporadically. The postman was just familiar.

I was just wondering if your answer is the official answer to the work jumble. I came up with something different and I always like to check my answers with your website, so I came up with “Bride” Ideas. Kind of like a play on bright ideas. Let me know!

We think the amswer to the jumble spoiler on Friday 27 is BRIDE IDEAS like she wants to get married, instead of “ASIDE” BRIDE meaning a mistress I guess, that would ruin a marriage, but wedding plans always ruins a relationship! lol. That’s only funny if your a girl. Thanks

Thanks for taking the time to write, dear niece! And, for the kind words. For your boyfriend’s sake, I hope, as with many jobs, that there is a positive pay differential to working nights. Hopefully, your boyfriend’s hours are just temporary, and are getting him up a rung, on that ladder of life.

A friend of your uncle’s tells him she relieves pent up frustrations by whacking her bed with a tennis racket. This seems like a non-destructive way to vent! Close the windows and doors (and maybe put a rag/sock in your mouth) and SCREAM while you whack away. (You don’t want to alarm your neighbors!)

I hope your weekend plans work out to your liking! Stop in again, and again, etc. Both to peruse and to contribute. Feel free to invite your most discriminating friends, as well!

Dear Uncle,
I found you today by google-ing YUPERN because while the other three jumbled words came easily to me, this one posed quite a challange! At any rate, I like what you have to say and how you say it. I am 24 and have a real heavy head today because I’ve been suggesting for two weeks to my boyfriend of three years that we go camping this weekend to stablize our relationship after what has been four weeks of next to no quality time together due to his unfortunate and unwanted switch to working nights. I feel like I am at my breaking point. I want to toss the objects in my home like salad, just to announce my frustration. Thanks for reading this, whoever you are. I needed to send this message into the universe so that I can return home from work today and pick up my sweetheart, apologize, and carry our spirits to the boreal forest for our special solstice retreat.

Oooh, John! Not too sure I like the back-handed compliment - “Thank you for TRYING to figure out the spoiler” - but I DO have to admit that I was (most likely - JK LOL!) wrong about the Jumble of 05/31/08. (That’s the date of the paper where I saw that particular Jumble.) You are absolutely right though, despite “beardface” *fitting* it is not a recognized word, as far as dictionaries are concerned. (beardfaceD might get a pass, in some circles, but definitely not beardface)

I shall print a retraction and give you the credit that you deserve, sir.

But, who looks at the previous day’s answer in the next day’s Jumble? That’s for people with lack of confidence issues.
